DESCRIERE

A fully updated edition of a popular, illustrated review book, covering all of the essential topics required to pass the current American Board of Anesthesiology Applied Oral and OSCE Examinations. Thoroughly revised to reflect recent literature and changes in anesthesia practice, 12 new chapters explore topics like Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Intraoperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), Foreign Body Aspiration, and Patient Blood Management. The book also contains questions and model answers, alongside valuable tips for exam success reflecting the new exam structure. Chapters feature a sample case and clinical issues alongside a Knockout Treatment Plan, a model providing an answer that could be used in the exam, and a Technical Knockout section, offering additional tips for successfully passing the examination. An evidence-based approach presented in a concise outline-oriented format, this resource also functions as an introduction to anesthesia rotations and as a technical study guide for students.

  •
  • Information is scenario-based and laid out in outline format to resemble the ABA Oral Board Examination format to ensure easy digestion and retention for the exam
  • The valuable Technical Knock Out sections identify the key concepts that are vital for candidates to know in order to be successful in the exam
  • Featuring over 100 topics, including all topics listed on the ABA website that could be covered on the exam, and exploring differential diagnoses and the many possible paths that examiners could take and ask about during the exam

'I can think of no greater resource for anesthesiologists preparing to take the anesthesiology oral board examination than this book. It condenses high yield information into manageable lessons for the busy anesthesiologist and the 'Knock-out Treatment Plan' sections take complex information and titrate it down to approachable, easy to remember points. In her second edition of this book, Dr. Lovich-Sapola has updated the impressive list of oral board topics. There are also twelve new chapters to reflect changes in the exam since the last edition of which the chapters on point of care ultrasound (POCUS) and intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) will be particularly useful. This edition also includes information regarding the most recent American Board of Anesthesiology exam structure including the Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) which will be welcome to examinees. Overall, I cannot recommend this book enough. I am thrilled that Dr. Lovich- Sapola has worked so tirelessly to give the anesthesiology community a second edition of her already fantastic oral board review book!' Kristen Noon, M. D., The Ohio State University, Department of Anesthesiology
